The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Forensic Science at MGM University is a two-year postgraduate program offered by the Department of Forensic Science under the School of Basic and Applied Sciences. Structured over four semesters, the program is designed to provide advanced knowledge, specialized skills, and research training in diverse areas of forensic science to develop competent professionals for forensic practice, research, and academia.
The curriculum includes core and elective papers covering a wide range of domains such as Advanced Forensic Biology and Serology, Forensic Toxicology, DNA Forensics, Forensic Ballistics, Questioned Document Examination, Digital and Cyber Forensics, and Forensic Anthropology. The program also emphasizes Legal Studies and Courtroom Testimony, helping students understand the intersection of science, law, and ethics.

Extensive practical training is imparted through state-of-the-art laboratories, crime scene simulation exercises, and instrumental analysis using sophisticated equipment. A strong emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary learning, enabling students to work effectively with allied sciences like chemistry, geology, physics, and computer science.
The final year of the M. Sc. Forensic Science program also has a course in form of Research Project, which enables our students to get first hand experience in how research is conducted. Additional features include internships, case study reviews, workshops, and expert lectures from renowned professionals.
The M.Sc. Forensic Science program at MGMU aims to produce ethically grounded, research-oriented, and industry-ready forensic scientists capable of serving the criminal justice system and contributing to national security and public welfare.
Eligibility
(a) Maharashtra State Candidate:
The Candidate should be an Indian National and having domicile of Maharashtra state and / or born in Maharashtra state.
Graduate (B.Sc.) Community Science, Food Nutrition and Home Science as one of the Subject or its equivalent examination and the candidate should have appeared in MGMU - CET 2025 should obtain non zero score in MGMU - CET 2025.
OR (b) All India Candidates:
The Candidate should be an Indian National.
Graduate (B.Sc.) Forensic Science / Physics/ Chemistry / Biology / Maths / Botany / Microbiology / BDS / B. Pharm / as one of the Subject or its equivalent examination and the candidate should have appeared in MGMU - CET 2025 should obtain non zero score in MGMU - CET 2025.
