The Department of Physics is a dynamic hub for learning, exploration, and advanced research,
offering a comprehensive suite of programs designed to empower the next generation of
physicists and innovators. We are committed to providing a world-class education that aligns
with the evolving landscape of physics and the ambitious goals of the Government's New
Education Policy (NEP)-2020.
As part of this commitment, the academic year 2023-2024 marks an exciting transformation with
the introduction of our newly structured programs: a comprehensive 4-year undergraduate (UG)
program and a focused 2-year postgraduate (PG) program in Physics. Our UG program provides
a strong foundation in core physics concepts, while also offering the flexibility for students to
tailor their studies. Students can choose a minor in a related discipline within the same faculty or
venture into a different faculty, fostering interdisciplinary learning and broadening their career
horizons.
Beyond the UG and PG levels, the Department of Physics is a vibrant center for research. We
offer a robust Ph.D. program, where students work alongside our esteemed faculty to push the
boundaries of knowledge in diverse areas of physics. To further enhance specialized skills and
knowledge, the department also offers two certificate courses, each carrying 1 credit.
The Department of Physics is equipped with well-appointed laboratories and modern classrooms,
providing an optimal environment for both theoretical and experimental learning. We are
dedicated to fostering a stimulating and supportive community where students can thrive,
explore their passion for physics, and prepare for successful careers in academia, research,
industry, and beyond.
