Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, October 15: In today’s world, earning a degree alone is not enough; students must cultivate curiosity, pursue knowledge and remain intellectually updated. A strong foundation in mathematics and statistics is equally essential, said renowned educationist Prof. Dr. S. B. Nimse.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Basic and Applied Sciences, MGM University, organised a special lecture titled “Data Science and AI: The Mathematical and Statistical Foundations Behind Intelligent Solutions” by Prof. Dr. S. B. Nimse, former Vice-Chancellor of Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University.

The programme was graced by MGM University Chancellor Shri Ankushrao Kadam, Dean Dr. Prapti Deshmukh, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics Dr. Uttara Deshmukh, faculty members, students and other attendees.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Nimse noted that several courses in data science are available, and encouraged students to read quality books on the subject. He highlighted the crucial role of mathematics and statistics in data science and artificial intelligence, explaining that these disciplines provide the foundations for developing intelligent systems, making accurate decisions and finding effective solutions to real-world problems.

Chancellor Shri Ankushrao Kadam emphasised the importance of mathematics, stating that students should nurture their interests and curiosity while developing a habit of continuous learning. He noted that mathematics is an essential subject that cannot be ignored and urged students to recognise its significance and study it diligently.

The lecture was coordinated by Dr. Pavinkumar Dole. Dr. Firdos Khan, Dr. Asha Nale, Prof. Maijabeen Pathan, Dr. Kranti Zhakade, Dr. Asha Dagar, Dr. S. Dhondge and Dr. V. Chinchane, along with other university faculty members and students, attended the programme.

एमजीएममध्ये शिक्षणतज्ञ प्रा.डॉ. एस.बी.निमसे यांचे व्याख्यान संपन्न

छत्रपती संभाजीनगर, दि. १५ : आजच्या जगात केवळ पदवी असून चालणार नाही विद्यार्थ्यांनी कुतूहल बाळगत अभ्यास करणे आवश्यक आहे. त्याचप्रमाणे मूलभूत गणित आणि सांख्यिकीचे ज्ञान असणे आवश्यक असून बौद्धिकदृष्ट्या विद्यार्थ्यांनी अद्ययावत राहणे आवश्यक असल्याचे प्रतिपादन शिक्षणतज्ञ प्रा.डॉ.एस.बी.निमसे यांनी यावेळी केले.

महात्मा गांधी मिशन विद्यापीठाच्या स्कूल ऑफ बेसिक अँड अप्लाइड सायन्सेसच्या गणित व सांख्यिकी विभागाच्या वतीने ‘डेटा सायन्स अँड एआय : द मॅथेमॅटिकल अँड स्टॅटिस्टिकल फाउंडेशन्स बिहाइंड इंटेलिजंट सोल्यूशन्स’ या विषयावर स्वामी रामानंद तीर्थ मराठवाडा विद्यापीठाचे माजी कुलगुरू तथा शिक्षणतज्ञ प्रा.डॉ.एस.बी.निमसे यांच्या विशेष व्याख्यानाचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते.

यावेळी एमजीएम विद्यापीठाचे कुलपती अंकुशराव कदम, अधिष्ठाता डॉ. प्राप्ती देशमुख, गणित व सांख्यिकी विभागप्रमुख डॉ. उत्तरा देशमुख, प्राध्यापक, विद्यार्थी व सर्व संबंधित उपस्थित होते.

पुढे बोलताना प्रा.डॉ.निमसे म्हणाले की, डेटा सायन्सचे अनेक अभ्यासक्रम उपलब्ध असून विद्यार्थ्यांनी या विषयावरील दर्जेदार पुस्तकांचे वाचन करावे. डेटा सायन्स आणि कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्तेच्या क्षेत्रात गणित व सांख्यिकीला विशेष महत्त्व असून त्यांच्या आधारे बुद्धिमान प्रणाली विकसित करणे, अचूक निर्णय घेणे आणि वास्तविक जीवनातील समस्यांवर प्रभावी उपाय शोधणे शक्य आहे.

जगामध्ये गणिताला अनन्यसाधारण महत्त्व असून विद्यार्थ्यांनी आपली आवड आणि कुतूहल जपत सातत्याने नवीन गोष्टी शिकण्याची वृत्ती विकसित करावी. गणित हा विषय कोणालाही टाळता येत नाही. त्यामुळे विद्यार्थ्यांनी या विषयाचे महत्त्व ओळखून त्याचा अभ्यास करावा, असे कुलपती अंकुशराव कदम यांनी यावेळी सांगितले.

या व्याख्यानाचे समन्वयन डॉ. पविनकुमार डोळे यांनी केले. या व्याख्यानाला डॉ.फिरदोस खान, डॉ. आशा नाळे, प्रा. मैजाबीन पठाण, डॉ. क्रांती झाकडे, डॉ. आशा डागर, डॉ. एस. धोंडगे आणि डॉ. व्ही. चिंचणे यांच्यासह विद्यापीठातील इतर प्राध्यापक व विद्यार्थी उपस्थित होते.
